Julia Cowenhoven

Board Certified Pediatrician located in Lowell, MA & Chelmsford, MA

Dr. Julia Cowenhoven is a board-certified pediatrician with a strong foundation in both inpatient and outpatient pediatric care. She earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine, where she developed a deep commitment to child health and family-centered medicine. She went on to complete her residency training through the prestigious Boston Combined Residency Program, training at both Boston Children's Hospital and Boston Medical Center — two of the nation's leading institutions in pediatric care. Most recently, Dr. Cowenhoven served as a pediatric hospitalist at Winchester Hospital, where she honed her clinical skills caring for acutely ill children and collaborating closely with families during some of their most vulnerable moments.

Dr. Cowenhoven has a deep passion for food, nutrition, and the transformative role that healthy eating plays in overall wellness. She believes wholeheartedly in the concept of food as medicine and that the choices we make at the table are among the most powerful tools we have for preventing illness and promoting long-term health. In her own kitchen, cooking is both a creative outlet and a daily practice in mindful living, and she brings that same enthusiasm into the exam room. She is especially passionate about empowering families to build healthy habits early, knowing that the patterns established in childhood ripple forward across a lifetime.

Outside of the office, Dr. Cowenhoven treasures time with her husband Tim, son Andy, and their dog Seamus. She can often be found gardening, exploring the outdoors, traveling, staying active, or curled up with a good book- pursuits that reflect the same values of balance, curiosity, and well-being that she brings to her patient care.
